I guess I should update this.Wow, so much has happened recently. This year has been really busy, but good for the most part. I'm not going to bore you with the events of my personal life for the most part, but for the artist's part of my life, I won an Art Competition!! I won first place in the congressional Art competition for the 3rd District of West Virginia. its a lot of complicated mess, but basically Art students from all over the United States send in their artwork to the capital of their state, and then they get judged by a juror. For each congressional district, one winner is chosen, and that work gets showcased in D.C. for a year. I believe after that there may be another judging, but I don't know. Either way, WOO! I can't even begin to explain how happy I am. I'm sorry I haven't been on all too recently, I just have zero time. I always feel obligated to go through my plethora of notifications, and I just don't have the time to read everything... Grr.Other than that, I've hit a major writing block. I
Story time WARNING: This is not good for everyoneOkay so I found a(n old?) video that Paul McCartney narrated for PETA called "Glass Walls"Here's a link for those of you who are curious, though I warn you ahead of time it DOES have animal cruelty so beware.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTifP6idBPsI haven't finished it yet but I plan to and I'm still in the Chicken/Turkey section... have NEVER watched it before... But I remember when I was about 13-14... My mom was with a man who his aunt offered me a job one summer for a couple visits to release baby chicks onto the farm. I thought, hey, I'll be doing a job and anyways, I'll get to spend time with babies!~Well, I never got paid, probably was very disturbed by it, and never went back... Basically what happened was...It was REALLY hot... and inside the barns they had it was even worse... and it smelled like a hamster cage. I remember that specifically. I remember the long walk to get to these huge barns that would be filled with chickens. I KNEW these chickens were going to be fo
Updates for April 2013....Since August last year I've been in constant email contact with Steve at Black Art Woodcraft in Rochester, NY. He is a master woodcrafter with a fine reputation for the building of authentic 19th century wetplate cameras. We've discussed, modified and approved details all this time, shared a few jokes and knocked around some philosophy concerning US gun control, which has mercifully lessened the agony of waiting so many months while the 8x10 wooden camera of awesomeness was being built. Happily I can report that Steve has finished the project and emailed me the FedEx details so that I can track the camera as it makes its way into the hands of Australia's customs people. There the camera will remain until I recover from the bill they'll send me, enough to hand over the money and finally take possession of one of the coolest, most exciting wooden boxes ever made.I've been sent a few pics on how to operate it. More pics to come, if you watch my Scraps folder. The acquisition and eventua
Blah......blah. blah. blaaaahhhhh.yep.that pretty much sums it up.
A Happy MomentI was so happy to find out that my deviation has put me through to the final round of :iconwriters--club: writing tournament! And now we have a new prompt, one that I find inspiring. I can't wait to start writing!
Back Again.I had a necessary break from the net, and now have a new doctor after being with the old one for a bit over 27 years. I disliked him intensely and didn't trust him (with reason, as it turns out) for nearly that long. The whole unpleasant thing has been extremely stressful, but I've gotten through it. Some thank you's are required here, although the usual expressions of gratitude and appreciation aren't really adequate, so I'll just say "From the bottom of my heart - thank you".Ben - for being there. With always useful, helpful advice, clear faith and emotional support - to say nothing of your wonderful sense of humor and genius for insults to those who are worthy of them. I always love your versatile creativity, your great art and your willingness to share your findings with newer artists like myself.Olga - your fantastic creativity that runs like a shining thread through your life, your sense of zaniness and fun, your loyalty, your friendship and not l

God..My thoughts are with all of the people affected by the Boston Marathon explosions, I hope you are all safe and well. If you are from Boston and have friends on DA maybe post a journal so people know you're okay and don't worry. Thoughts with everyone
:[Am I the only one who hates these points giveaway things being in the literature galleries? Keep them in your journals people! It is so difficult for talented writers to get onto the front page, and now most days the only lit representation isn't even literature, it's these giveaways. It's so depressing and unfair to the squillions of talented writers who I see day in and day out at number 5 or whatever. Works that are thoughtful and revolutionary - and receiving way less views than they could be because of unrelated crap in the way.A giveaway is not literary art. Is this something I should report as a miscat? Does anyone know?
Happy Birthday ShehrozeameenI know it's a day late but I wanted to wish a happy birthday to :iconShehrozeameen:He recently wrote a poem called, A Poet's Prayer He wrote this poem as a follow up to :iconNotenSMSK: and his poem, The Felonious Poet. For his birthday I have taken a Poet's Prayer and put my own spin on it. Happy Birthday :iconShehrozeameen: I hope this makes you smile!I alone, on the altar of my words,Free and easy, the almighty pen forgedblessed me with the will to compose this mash up of stylesfor I seek to amuse, to capture you with my wiles;Scribbling in the candlelight I cry out in frustration,Vain ink runs dry, my voice absent of elation;Yet in my soul I hear of whisper- a spinning threadIt relieves me of my doubts, my demons, everything I never said:and with humble pride I kneel while I pray, and when it's over I breath easy, feeling more than okay. There is nothing felonious about this poet, this is just me-cracking open my soul and giving it aw
Just A Heads Up, Trying Not To OffendSo I have my drawing of Yildiz the Turkish lion up and I also had it as my picture on skype... I have a Greek friend who doesn't like Turkish people... He said he liked the lion though so I'm hoping I didn't offend him... But I just want to let people know...When I draw other's characters, I love differences and try to keep an open variety. I do NOT aim specifically to draw a character that will offend people. I like different parts of different characters and get inspired for all sorts of things. Sometimes I even just like giving giftart for someone nice, a friend, or someone who's going through a tough time. I understand if you don't like a certain country for whatever reason. So I just want to let others know that I'm not overly favoring one country or another, I try to make all my characters different or draw different characters and I hope not to offend anyone.I, personally, love different countries and parts of the world greatly and I'm not completely sure what to say here or i

What Do You Want? UpdatedI just have to ask this because of some thing that has been bothering me for ages. The most popular pieces I have are pieces I made a really long time ago. I've done tons of work since the two that keep getting faved. I'd like to think I'm good for other art. So with that said I want to hear from you guys, what would please you? I mean the only pieces that are notable I've done, were made in '10 and '11.PS: Did some one feature me today? I have a large hit count but no faves or comments, just one random llama badge.
.: Notes, life, and everything :.Hey guys I finally got around to answering some notes and such. I'm really busy, and it doesn't look like I'll be less busy before July. Hopefully then I will have more time to reply regularly. Things are going pretty well! I'm enjoying my busy life with studies and friends, and I've received some really nice comments on my latest deviation, Injection. I want to thank :iconshehrozeameen: for giving it attention it would not have received otherwise.I also want to thank all my other deviantART friends and people I talk to for being patient with me. I know my replies may be late sometimes, but it doesn't mean I'm not here for you. And when I do reply, my replies are sincere.:iconfeelingfreeplz: With love,~ Dee
